Showcase: Memes from the Meme Wars

Space to be awesome is built together. We experiment with different ways of strengthening our culture, one example are the culture workshops from Q1/2019 where we collected and compiled key elements of how we want to work together bottom-up. We then conducted the “Meme Wars” to see what sticks. Memes are best practices turned into a memorable visual. Emojis make it easy to reinforce what’s important to us via Slack.

Speed

	Swarm!	We swarm around blockages to remove them fast.
	Teamwork Dreamwork	Working together is more effective and efficient than working alone. We enable the team rather than the individual.

Impact

	Meme	What does it stand for?
	80:20	We look for smart ways to go 80% of the way with 20% of the effort.
	Feed on Feedback	We’re open to feedback from all directions and use it to improve. We give constructive feedback help one another get better.
	Be Proud of What We Build	We’re proud of our accomplishments and our positive impact on the world. Our commits are gifts for future engineers.

Ownership

	Meme	What does it stand for?
	Fire and Forget	When you delegate, they execute and keep you in the loop on important developments. You don't (need to) actively track.
	Whose Baby is it?	We define owners for all tasks and own things end-to-end, while delegating responsibility as needed.
	Everyone Does Their Best	We trust and expect that everyone is doing their best. We trust that input is coming from a good place.

Trust

	Meme	What does it stand for?
	Trust First	We provide all teammates with a high, equal expectation of trust until an individual proves to you otherwise.
	No Finger Pointing	We don’t blame. We retrospect on the past and discuss forward-looking how we can improve.

People

	Because We Care	We care for each other, the community, our company and the challenges we're solving. We care about our impact.
